Rebecca and Derek Pepin met in upstate New York – he was an Army helicopter pilot and she was a television news reporter.
Rebecca, who was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, completed her master’s degree in broadcast journalism at Syracuse University. She became a U.S. citizen in 2006.
Derek grew up in the charming town of Duxbury, Massachusetts and his military career took him to many interesting places, including Kuwait and Korea.
The two founded and orchestrated a project to help wounded veterans. They recruited volunteer authors, journalists and editors from across the country to assist them in putting together a beautiful coffee table book called Faces of Freedom: Profiles of America’s Fallen Heroes ~ Iraq and Afghanistan. It tells the stories of fallen service members – one from each state, D.C. and Puerto Rico. ALL proceeds go to Fisher House Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project. Faces of Freedom was featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.
Their children are named after two of the many inspirational young men and women you can read about in Faces of Freedom.
Rebecca and Derek have always dreamed of owning their own business. The idea for Fetching Apparel came from their love of dogs, the great outdoors and giving back.
Fetching Apparel gives 40% of profits to charities involved in animal rescue and spay/neuter efforts. So when you buy one of their stylish and sporty tees or totes, you become part of their mission to save homeless pets. So what are you waiting for?
